The Workshop was led by Alberto Couceiro who invited us students from the Filmuniversität Babelsberg to his studio in Berlin-Neukölln. We learned about materials for building our own puppet, how to use Motion Control and Dragonframe software to animate professionally. Also he showed us the importance of light, color and filters in film to achieve certain effects without digital tools. After building a provisional puppet from twisted wires, foam, magnets and superglue we returned to the studios at the Filmuniversität and experimented with movement and timing. It’s a great thing to see the puppet come alive and develop its own character!
